Yuna Potomkina spoke at X International Forum "Mediation & Law"

Asters' Partner and Head of Alternative Dispute Resolution Yuna Potomkina spoke at the panel discussion "Mediation Advocacy: The Art of Representing Clients in Mediation" of X International Forum "Mediation & Law". The event took place on 10 June 2026 and gathered one of the leading experts from Ukraine, the USA, Lithuania and Georgia to discuss the role of lawyers in mediation and the balance between protecting the client’s interests and supporting constructive dialogue.

In her presentation, she outlined the advantages of mediation, including confidentiality, flexibility of outcome and preservation of the parties’ relationship. She also highlighted the three key roles of a lawyer in the process: advocate, legal adviser and client manager.

In closing, she remarked: “In mediation, a lawyer defends not only the client’s legal position, but their genuine interests. Their strength lies in helping clients see beyond the conflict — not merely a dispute, but a solution that can be accepted voluntarily and implemented without loss. It is precisely here that mediation offers a unique opportunity: to transform conflict into a managed solution, preserving both legal integrity and business relationships.”
