Oksana Legka spoke at London Arbitration Week 2025

Asters' Partner Oksana Legka spoke at the session "What Ukrainian Businesses Expect and London’s Role in Delivering Trust, Certainty and Enforcement" under the auspices of London Arbitration Week 2025. It brough together practitioners with direct experience advising Ukrainian companies on cross-border disputes, enforcement strategy, and risk mitigation.

During the presentation Oksana addressed several key issues, including:

  • the reasons London has long been and continues to be the preferred place for resolving disputes involving Ukrainian parties
  • the critical role of Ukrainian courts in enforcing procedural orders, final awards and judgments rendered in the UK
  • the use of interim measures when a respondent has begun, or may begin, dissipating assets to frustrate future enforcement of an award or judgment

Summarising her speech, Oksana noted that the number of Ukraine-related cases heard in London is expected to grow. Key drivers include forthcoming large-scale reconstruction projects, the significant role the UK and UK-linked businesses will play in this process, and the continued commitment of Ukrainian courts to the enforcement of foreign interim orders and final decisions.
