Asters' Partner Oksana Legka spoke at the 4th Annual Sovereign & States Disputes and Enforcement Summit, held on 5-6 February 2026 in London. The event brought together leading arbitration experts from the UK, USA, EU countries, Singapore, Ukraine and other regions to share exclusive insights from their first-hand experience with the most pressing ongoing and recent cases.
Oksana Legka participated in the discussion "Developments in Disputes Involving Sovereigns and State-owned Entities in the FSU Region", where she provided details on the most recent investor-state disputes where Ukraine acts as the respondent in Ukraine, including those that concern losses allegedly incurred by the claimants because of various sanctions imposed since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
In parallel, Ukrainian companies continue initiating and pursuing arbitration cases against Russia for losses of their assets in Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories. Since 2014 more than ten cases of this kind were launched that are now at different stages of their consideration, out of which seven arbitration proceedings resulted in final arbitral awards, all in favour of Ukrainian investors.
