Asters — pro bono legal advisor to UAnimals

In 2025, Asters launched pro bono legal support for UAnimals, a nationwide animal and environmental protection organisation. The firm focuses on key areas of work, including advocacy for animal rights, development of legislative initiatives and provision of legal protection.

The working group within the partnership is led by Marta Halabala, Counsel and Head of the firm's Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development practice. She notes:

"The issue of animal rights becomes even more relevant during wartime. Animals cannot take care of or protect themselves. That is why organisations such as UAnimals become their voice and, in difficult times of war, also help with evacuation from the frontline areas and engage in their rehabilitation. UAnimals is a nationwide animal and environmental protection organisation that has been promoting the humane treatment of animals since 2016. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, it has been actively evacuating and treating animals from frontline areas, helping military animals and shelters, and initiating important legislative changes in this area.
