On 10 June 2020, Asters held a webinar-interview with John Townsend, one of the top international arbitrators and arbitration counsels.

Mr. Townsend is Partner and Co-Chair of Arbitration Practice at Hughes Hubbard & Reed in Washington, DC. Among his many awards, he is ranked by Chambers Global as one of the top international arbitration lawyers in the world. He regularly acts as counsel and sits as an arbitrator in high-profile international disputes. Notably, Mr. Townsend represented Ukrainian investors in five arbitrations against the Russian Federation under the Russia-Ukraine Bilateral Investment Treaty arising out of measures carried out after the Russian annexation of Crimea. His team was the first to prevail on thorny and novel jurisdictional issues pertinent to these cases.
