Asters' Partner Oleksandr Padalka Participating in Discussions on Structuring Business Projects in Ukraine through European Jurisdictions

On 22-23 September 2009, Asters' Partner Oleksandr Padalka took part in International Conference "Use of European Jurisdictions for Structuring Business Projects in Ukraine" held in Limassol, Cyprus, and organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association. The Conference gathered over 50 lawyers representing international law firms from Ukraine, Russia, Cyprus, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and other countries.

The participants had an ample opportunity to discuss the issues covering multiple aspects and opportunities for structuring business projects under jurisdictions of Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Cyprus. The discussions focused on most appropriate forms of business structuring and highlighted the specifics of legal framework and corporate tax planning in a number of European jurisdictions.

Besides, speakers representing world-renowned European companies spelled out the favorable aspects of certain European jurisdictions for Ukrainian companies' business structuring. The participants also had an opportunity to hear various views on antimonopoly regulation of cross-border mergers and acquisitions in Europe from their foreign peers.

Expressing his high appreciation of the event, Oleksandr Padalka emphasized: "This conference offered a unique opportunity for us, practitioners, to debate within the circle of lawyers from various countries on important issues of business projects' structuring and obtain useful information on the specifics of European jurisdictions in connection with organizing business projects in Ukraine."
