Mr. Volkov has over 15 years of experience in international commercial, investment, and sports arbitration, as well as cross-border litigation. Oleksandr has been involved in numerous arbitration proceedings under ICSID, ICC, SCC, LCIA, JAMS, AAA, ICAC at CCI Arbitration Rules. Additionally, he has experience in the FIDIC-related disputes, as well as in advising clients in litigations in England, the USA, the EU, and other major jurisdictions. Oleksandr also frequently appears before the Ukrainian Supreme Court in arbitration-related cases.

Mr. Volkov represents both state authorities and private companies. He frequently advises foreign investors engaged in pre-arbitration negotiations

  • Acted for a world-known Italian construction company in an ICC proceeding arising out of the FIDIC Contract against a Ukrainian agency concerning claims and counterclaims of circa EURO 80 million, including recognition and enforcement proceedings in Ukraine and setting aside proceedings in France.
  • Acted for a major Ukrainian state-owned entity in an ICC proceeding against an Italian contractor concerning a compensation claim of circa EURO 120 million for alleged breach of a services agreement relating to the construction of a highway.
  • Represented major Chinese machinery manufacturer in challenging security measures granted by the Kyiv Court of Appeal in assistance to arbitration proceedings pending before the Dubai International Arbitration Center against UAE-based company.
  • Represented a leading Ukrainian company in a dispute with a Chinese equipment manufacturer before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, Singapore preventing collection under a Forged Guarantee.
