Asters' Managing Partner Oleksiy Didkovskiy took part in the 5th Legal Week Litigation Forum held in London on 17 September 2009. With litigation on the rise, this one-day conference brought together around 100 litigation experts from the UK, Europe and the United States to discuss experiences and latest developments in the sector.
Chaired by The Right Honourable Lord Falconer, this year’s Legal Week Litigation Forum provided an overall picture of the way clients and costs need to be managed. Debates offered opportunities to gauge client expectations, understand how costs are viewed from both sides of the bench and hear latest proceedings on cross-border work. In addition Jenny Rowe, chief executive at the UK Supreme Court, introduced a Supreme Court for the United Kingdom and its benefits to litigation and the legal profession in general.
This year’s wide-ranging programme allowed attendees also to participate in a choice of six interactive focus groups addressing the litigation aspects of fraud and corruption, financial services disputes, class actions, as well as management issues of funding and billing models, risk management and limits on disclosure.
In his overview of the event, Mr. Didkovskiy pointed out: "This conference gives an invaluable opportunity to meet peers, exchange experience and learn from honorable guests latest achievements in commercial litigation."
