Team of Students Promoted by Asters Scores High in the Prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

On 5-11 April 2015, the International Rounds of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition were held in Washington, D.C.

127 best teams (from 85 countries on 5 continents), which were selected in the national elimination rounds out of teams from 600 law schools worldwide, participated in the 2015 international rounds.

Ukraine was represented by the team of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University, Institute of International Relations (IIR), which has been nationally and internationally supported by Asters for several years already.

IIR team ranked as high as 9th in the international rounds and became one of the 32 best teams of the world. It is the highest ranking achieved by this team in the international oral rounds selection in the past 16 years.

Participants of the team included Yaroslav Lepko (5th year), Oleksiy Maslov (5th year), Oksana Matiyash (6th year), Alla Kushnirenko (4th year) and Iryna Volkova (3rd year). Anna Tkachova, associate of Asters, coached the IIR team, and Volodymyr Solohub, last year's coach and Asters' former associate, acted as one of the international rounds judges.

Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious public international law moot court competition for law students from around the world. It was established in 1959 in honor of Philip C. Jessup, a former judge of the UN International Court. The competition is annually attended by over 1600 students from more than 600 law schools representing over 80 counties.
