Asters Recognised for Legal Innovation at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2026
Asters has achieved prestigious double recognition at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2026, earning high placements in two categories, namely:
- Highly Commended in AI, Digital Regulation and Technology category for coordinating with Ukrainian state agencies on the development and implementation of a new legal framework to strengthen national cybersecurity. Entering into force in April 2025, the framework provides the basis for 20 pieces of legislation designed to enhance cybersecurity protocols and reinforce the protection of classified information, secure communications and critical infrastructure from cyberattacks. Asters team working on the project included Partner Yuriy Kotliarov, Counsel Serhiy Tsyba and Associate Viktoria Kurylina.
- Commended in Responsible Business category for leading evidence-gathering work for Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice in proceedings against the Russian Federation before the European Court of Human Rights. The firm played an important role in building the legal and evidentiary framework, contributing to the Grand Chamber’s July 2025 judgment holding Russia accountable for widespread human rights violations. The case, with potential damages exceeding USD 80 billion, sets a new benchmark for compensation claims and human rights accountability during the war. Asters team working on the project included Partners Oksana Legka and Oleksandr Volkov, as well as Associates Valeriia Yakimova and Oleksandr Lutsenko.
