Asters' Associates Participate in the International Conference on Personal Data Protection

On 21 May 2012 Asters' associate Yulia Yanyuk spoke at the International Conference "Personal Data Protection: law, practice, supervision" hosted in the National Business and Cultural Centre "Ukrainian House". The event was attended by data protection officers from Central and Eastern Europe as well as law and business community.

The main objective of the Conference was to discuss the current laws on data protection with regard to sanctions for the breach of law on Personal Data Protection. The participants outlined the processing of personal data by legal entities, technical measures of personal data protection, issues with inspections of personal data officers.

In her speech entitled "Personal Data Protection in Labour Relations", Yulia Yanyuk gave her own vision of practical aspects of employees' personal data processing. She keynoted the effective labour law provisions and specific requirements to processing employees' personal data stored in personnel databases.

The event gathered over 200 experts, including law practitioners, business community, specialized and general business media, and served as a platform for discussing major concerns related to provisions on administrative and criminal liability for the breach of personal data protection laws.
