Asters provided legal advice to Microsoft Corporation (Redmond, Washington, USA), the worldwide leader in software, services and IT-solutions, on Ukrainian merger control law issues, including obtaining the AMC merger clearance to acquire Skype, one of the leading Internet communications companies from an investor group led by Silver Lake for USD 8.5 billion.
This transaction has become the most expensive acquisition by Microsoft for the entire 36-year history of the company. After the merger, Skype will become one of the subdivisions of Microsoft and support such devices as XBox, Kinect and Windows Phone. In return, Microsoft will connect Skype users with Lync, Outlook and other communities.
Asters' team working on the transaction included partner Igor Svechkar and senior associate Tetiana Vovk.
