Armen Khachaturyan Speaks at Roundtable on Impacts of Financial Crisis on Ukraine's Legal Services Market

On 11 December 2008 Asters' Senior Partner Armen Khachaturyan spoke at the roundtable "The Financial Crisis from the Perspective of Law Firms: Ways to Surmount the Affects of the Crisis and Trends in Developing the Legal Services Market 2009" organized by Ukrainian legal weekly Yurydychna Gazeta at the press centre of the newspaper Delo.

The roundtable discussed such issues as development of legal services in Ukraine in 2008, the peculiarities of law firms' operation during the financial crisis, and forecasts for 2009. The event brought together more than 65 participants, both law practitioners and correspondents of specialized and general business media, resulting in active discussion and comprehensive analysis of all discussed matters.

In his presentation "From Crisis of Legal Awareness to Economic Crisis: Is It Possible to Overcome Them Simultaneously?", Armen Khachaturyan gave his own vision of the Ukrainian market of legal services emphasizing ethical standards in conducting business, competition tools, psychological and financial disproportions in HR practices, attorney-client relations, reorganization of practice groups, the correspondence of law firms' financial plans to forecasts of global financial instability, as well as the unsatisfactory state of organization of legal profession in Ukraine.

The keynote of the speech was the conclusion that the economic crisis must become a purifier used for improvement, optimization and organization of the legal profession on principles of professionalism, honor, expediency and common sense.
