On 29 October 2024, the 3rd Annual Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum took place, organised by Asters, Herbert Smith Freehills and Strategy Council with the special support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss the most topical issues related to the reconstruction process in Ukraine.
Asters Senior Partner Armen Khachaturyan moderated the discussion, in which the participants presented a progress report on the reconstruction projects in Ukraine and the country's macroeconomic performance, as well as defined the key priorities for efficient and coordinated reconstruction efforts. They discussed the current estimates of the damage caused by Russian aggression, the rebuild costs and possible ways to raise funds for reconstruction projects. Particular attention was paid to the role and contribution of the IFIs to the reconstruction process in terms of advisory, oversight and financial support.
Asters Partner and Head of London Office Yaroslav Petrov joined the session to discuss the priority sectors where private sector investment can have the greatest positive impact. The panelists highlighted the areas where investment is most needed, mentioning urban, commercial, energy, agricultural and social infrastructure. They also discussed the ways to attract the necessary investment, particularly through PPPs, concessions and the development of industrial parks, and presented best international practices that can be used for the most efficient implementation of infrastructure recovery projects.
