  • advising Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan UK LLP, lead counsel acting for the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, in connection with court proceedings in the High Court of Justice in London commenced by the Trustee, The Law Debenture Trust Corporation, against Ukraine regarding its alleged debt under 3 billion USD bonds purportedly issued by Ukraine in 2013 and 100% taken up by the Russian Federation, and assisting in Ukraine's appeal against the summary judgment of the High Court in these proceedings. Asters is acting as the local Ukrainian counsel in this matter;
  • advising Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, lead counsel acting for JSC Oschadbank, a leading bank in Ukraine, in connection with Oschadbank's claim against the Russian Federation for the recovery of over 1 billion USD in compensation as a result of the total loss of its investments in Crimea. Asters is acting as the local Ukrainian counsel in this matter;
  • advised Telenor, one of the world's major mobile operators, on Ukrainian law matters relating to:

- its 23.8 billion USD transaction with Alfa Group of Russia involving the merger of assets between the Russian mobile telecom operator VimpelCom (the Beeline brand) and the leading Ukrainian telecom operator Kyivstar in VimpelCom Ltd., including the structuring and documentation of the Ukrainian part of the transaction;

- corporate governance issues and dispute resolution between Telenor and Alfa Group with regard to Kyivstar where Telenor was a major shareholder and the Alfa Group affiliate was a minority shareholder. The dispute spanned several years and a number of jurisdictions, including numerous litigation cases brought by Alfa Group and its affiliates in Ukraine and Telenor's UNCITRAL arbitration against the Alfa Group affiliate;

  • advised the receivers and subsequently the liquidators of Lyndhurst Development Trading S.A. on Ukrainian law matters and in respect to various court proceedings relating to 45 million USD debt collection from the Kiev-based shopping mall, Univermag "Ukraina", and the validity of the respective claim.
  • advised Sputnik Group, a major CIS private equity fund, on corporate and insurance law issues, including the due diligence of a Ukrainian life insurance subsidiary;
  • advised one of leading European pharmaceutical companies on a dispute with the local pharmaceutical regulator over the distribution of the client's products, which involved a ban on the circulation of the client's products in Ukraine;
