Having successfully passed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) assessments Asters Counsel Dmytro Shemelin has been admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales as of 03 June 2019.
QLTS (Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme) permits a qualified Ukrainian advocate to become a solicitor of England and Wales following the successful completion of QLTS assessments and a character and suitability test by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The scope of QLTS assessments includes, among others, European Law, English Contract Law, Torts, Equity, Trusts, as well as Civil Procedure Rules applicable to civil litigation in England and Wales. All these areas are of key importance for the Firm's International Arbitration and Cross-Border Litigation practice and allow Dmytro to find solutions for the clients using sophisticated instruments of more developed jurisdictions.
Dmytro has more than 12 years of experience in international dispute resolution, including international investment, and commercial arbitration according to all major arbitration rules, as well as in international litigation.
Apart from being admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales, Dmytro Shemelin has obtained LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement from Geneva University and Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and Specialist degree in Law with honours from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Dmytro is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb) and has authored over 50 publications on international dispute resolution and the issues of Ukrainian law.
