Asters Partner Spoke at the Sixth Annual Legal Conference in Lviv
Asters partner Igor Svechkar moderated Competition Panel at the 6th Annual Conference of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA), which took place in Lviv on 10-13 June 2009. Traditionally, this year's event attracted the UBA leadership and committee members, as well as many legal professionals for discussion and exchanges of opinion on the most problematic issues of Ukrainian law and poignant issues of legal practice.

As Chairman of the UBA Competition Committee, Igor Svechkar moderated a panel discussion dedicated to protection against unfair competition and presented an overview of the latest legislative changes in this area. Igor Svechkar outlined the latest changes to the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection against Unfair Competition" dated 18 December 2008 in the context of further commentaries by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. The participants of the session discussed the changes and the anticipated enforcement practices focusing on the potential conflict with IP laws and the ways to resolve the conflict.

For the sixth consecutive year, the UBA Legal Conference has served as a platform to discuss the latest changes and trends in legislation. The panelists consisted of partners from the leading Ukrainian law firms, private legal practitioners, corporate counsel, etc. A distinctive feature of this year's program was the emphasis placed on those issues and areas of practice, which have been most affected by the global financial crisis and have undergone substantial legislative modification.
