Asters' Partner Svitlana Poroschuk Participates in the Forum EuroLawyer 2010


Asters' partner Svitlana Poroschuk took part in the Third CIS-EU Forum EuroLawyer 2010 held in London on 15-16 April. Representatives from various countries, governmental officials, executives, in-house lawyers and law practitioners were involved in discussions ranging across the whole spectrum of interests and viewpoints on the topic of the Forum State and Business: joint development perspectives. Participants spoke about legal issues of business development in their jurisdictions, including their latest experience and perspectives of public-private partnership, antitrust regulation, privatization practice, protection of foreign investment, mediation and others.

Svitlana Poroschuk made her speech in the session on corporate disputes in the CIS and EU countries. In her presentation she focused on problematic aspects of regulation of corporate relations and highlighted the most typical corporate disputes. In particular, Ms. Poroschuk made observations on disputes related to authority of the executive chair, disputes related to removal of the executive chair from the office and termination of employment, and related problems and risks, as well as decisions of the judicial authorities on these issues. The presentation attracted the close attention of all participants, especially in the part which provided recommendations that can be used in practice.

The Forum developed into an outstanding opportunity for both the elaboration of analytical materials and the introduction of a motion to create a legal framework and examine contemporary aspects of business regulation in CIS countries. Moreover, the Forum became an excellent networking event for all participants willing to benefit from communication, new business connections and exchange of professional experience, with legal experts from the both CIS and EU.
