Asters Recommended by 2013 IFLR1000

Asters' M&A and banking and finance practices got firm recommendations in 2013 edition of International Financial Law Review 1000 (IFLR1000) re-confirming its high standings consistently received over recent years.

IFLR1000 describes Asters as "one of the leading local M&A practices" noting especially the role of Oleksiy Didkovskiy and Armen Khachaturyan. It notes the "firm's strong portfolio of recent transactions" and its work on such major deals as the EUR 1 billion acquisition of Lafarge's European gypsum business by Etex Group, the merger of First Ukrainian International Bank with Dongorbank, acquisition of a stake in UkrSibBank by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and private equity deals for Icon Private Equity and Siguler Guff & Company.

IFLR1000 also recommends Asters' banking and finance practice. The head of the team Armen Khachaturyan is described as "well liked and much respected" by clients and colleagues. It also praises Iryna Pokanay's work, in particular advice to the EBRD, the International Finance Corporation and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank on a USD190 million loan to petroleum distributor Galnaftogaz. The publication also highlights the firm's work for such clients as JPMorgan, EBRD and Czech Export Bank on numerous major loans to Ukrainian banks and manufacturers. On the restructuring front the publication mentions the team's work for a number of banks including Barclays Capital in regard to Interpipe's USD 887 million debt restructuring.

IFLR1000 is one of the world's most prestigious and well-respected international rankings of law firms known for its profound research and independence of judgment. It ranks law firms based on the feedback from clients, in-house counsel at national and international, private and public institutions, as well as peers in the legal markets it covers. First published in 1990, it currently researches over 120 jurisdictions worldwide.
