Asters partner Vadym Samoilenko was both initiator and editor of proposed amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Joint Stock Companies".

State Securities and Stock Market Commission member Mr. Sergiy Biryuk stated in a letter that the Commission will take Mr. Samoilenko's proposed amendments into account while putting together the draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine 'On Joint Stock Companies'".

The proposed amendments compiled pursuant to the results of the Third Annual Forum on Corporate Law, which took place on 30 October 2009 in Kyiv and was organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association.

In addition, these proposed amendments were the subject of lively debate at the First and Second Eastern Ukraine Forums on Corporate Law, which took place in November and December 2009 in Donetsk and Kharkiv, respectively.

The final versions of the proposed amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Joint Stock Companies", which took into consideration suggestions from other legal practitioners, were handed over to the State Securities and Stock Market Commission and several other state agencies that oversee corporate affairs.
