Asters Goes On with New Art Asters Exhibit

On 19 February 2010 Asters held a reception to present the art exhibition L&M by Ukrainian artist Alexey Malykh. The exhibit was organized with the help of art producer Andryi Levchenko and features over 40 paintings and artworks created over the past decade and specially selected by the artist for this Project.

The new exhibition is a part of the firm's Art Asters project launched in 2009 to support and promote contemporary Ukrainian art. The Project's first exposition of artist Volodymyr Tovkaylo's paintings received favorable reviews by art critics, the firm's clients and friends, with some of works finding home in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.

The new event was attended by the firm's numerous clients and friends, including top managers of the leading Ukrainian and foreign companies and financial institutions, representatives of international organizations, mass media, art critics, and connoisseurs. Guests were greeted by Asters' Senior Partner Armen Khachaturyan, and Andryi Levchenko. Alexey Malykh told the audience about his life in art and the stories behind the exposed artworks. Later into the night the guests enjoyed socializing in an exquisite artistic environment augmented with live music.

Welcoming the guests Armen Khachaturyan said, "Tonight, once again we are honored to present the Art Asters Project to the firm's clients and friends. This time we will have an opportunity to enjoy the real realm of artistry by Alexey Malykh - a talented artist of domestic and international acclaim. Alexey's paintings are filled with utmost expression offering a gamut of colors. His artworks let us plunge in a new realm missed so much in the daily routine, the world from which you will not want to return; the world overwhelmed by the ultimate natural beauty, unusual look at the common material existence, and mysterious labyrinths of human soul with its infinite pallet of subconscious, instinctive, and innermost perceptions. I believe that this exhibition will be as successful as was the one which started the project. Our special acknowledgment goes to the artist's producer Andryi Levchenko whose efforts have made the Project possible."

Alexey Malykh is one of the most known names in the Ukrainian contemporary art. His works, whatever is the subject, sparkle with artistic expression, deep meaning and colors. In the eyes of art critics, Alexey Malykh is an "archeologist who constantly excavates culturally, digs out and reflects on the canvases the debris and fossils of a perished world and of the lost experience which we, nevertheless, are still missing". In artistic world the artist's nickname is "shaman" because of the mystical energy filling his projects – Shaman and Venus, The Beautiful Carpathians, Maya's Light, Summertime, Second of October, Sky and Earth, Solars, and many others.

Since 1979 the artist's paintings have been repeatedly and successfully presented at the exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. From 1991 to 2010 his works were exhibited in 80 art projects, about half of which are fine art personal exhibitions in Ukraine, Austria, Bulgaria, the UK, Spain, Germany, Russia, France, Chili, Switzerland and other countries. Some of his artworks augment collections of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, German banks and corporations, as well as private collections in many countries of the world.
